American bulldog breaders will start training the dog as a small puppy.
The Johnson dog is bigger and more aggressive than the Scott type. These dog are used in police and guarding. The other type is smaller and kinder and less aggressive; it can be used as a pet dog and it is a calm dog.

There are two different types of the breed that are named after the persons that bred them. The first one, which is also called the standard type, is the Johnson type and the other in the Scott type. They differ greatly in their physical appearance and in their character. American bulldog breaders will start training the dog as a small puppy.
